Cadmium Plating is more suitable than Zinc in explosive environments, such as mines, and when in contact with aluminium. It has good corrosion-resistance, which can also be enhanced by Passivation finishes in yellow, clear, drab olive and black. Cadmium plating is not always acceptable, for health and safety reasons and Zinc plating is often an acceptable alternative.
